The wait for the classic Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones games to be ported to the PS4 is finally over.
After years of falling in love with the games but not being able to play them on the next-gen counsels, Star Wars fans can rejoice. In an announcement on Tuesday, coinciding with the Blu-ray release of Rogue One, Sony is releasing all versions of Lego Star Wars as well as Lego Indiana Jones on the PS4.
There’s a catch, though. Unlike previous Star Wars port releases that we’ve seen in the past, these games won’t be available for individual purchase. In fact, they’re not available for purchase at all; the games are a part of Playstation’s PSNow platform.
If you’re not familiar with the PSNow, it basically serves as Netflix for video games as users pay a monthly subscription to have a database of games that they can play. You don’t own the games but you can rent them out and play digital copies. You progress is saved per usual and the game is a full version, the only catch is you don’t own it.
Here’s list of the games being released:
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Ultimate Sith Edition
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
- LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars
- LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
While fans of the Lego franchise can rejoice over those games finally getting ported over to the PS4, a hidden gem here is the inclusion of Force Unleashed games from the PS3. They weren’t the most well received Star Wars games, but they’re the last time LucasArts tried to go out and make a story-centric game. The story now exists in the ‘Legends’ canon but that doesn’t mean we can’t go back and relive the good ol’ days.
The real thing the take away from this is the Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones games finally coming to the PS4, which means it’s time to block off your whole weekend.
