Lego celebrates Star Wars Day with May the 4th deals
Get your wallets ready, Lego has announced special May the 4th promotions in honor of Star Wars Day.
In addition to sales on select Lego Star Wars items, Lego will be providing early VIP access to the Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Snowspeeder as well as a free buildable R2-D2 set when you spend $50 or more on Lego Star Wars sets through May 7th. You also receive double VIP points on all Lego Star Wars purchases.
On the forceful day itself, Lego is offering incentive to shop in-store. Lego customers can participate in a “minifigure speed build challenge” at most locations to win a free minifigure. They can also win wearable Yoda ears if they come to the store dressed in costume and complete a search and find activity.
Lego has a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the Star Wars franchise and fandom, so it makes sense that they would honor the holiday this way. The first Lego Star Wars set was released in 1999, a Lego X-Wing fighter ship, based on the original trilogy. The Ultimate Collector Series, to which Lego welcomes the Snowspeeder, produces sets that are much more detailed and much larger than the standard builds. About the Snowspeeder, Lego says:
"Collect a true Star Wars classic: the T-47 Snowspeeder. This LEGO® interpretation of the iconic airspeeder that fans will remember from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back has all the details you’d expect, including opening airbrakes, rotating rear gun, and an opening cockpit with space for the included Rebel Snowspeeder Pilot and Rebel Snowspeeder Gunner minifigures. This model also comes with a display stand and fact plaque, so it can take pride of place in any LEGO Star Wars collection."
The Snowspeeder retails for $200, but there’s plenty of Star Wars goodies to be found in the Lego store no matter your price point. That R2-D2 will be yours in no time. And, as always, May the 4th be with you.
