The NBA Finals start tonight, which makes it the perfect time to re-live the Golden State Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead, in Lego.
For the third time in as many years, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will be facing each other for all the marbles in the NBA Finals. It truly is an ‘all the marbles’ situation, as the two teams traded Finals titles in back-to-back years.
That means whoever emerges this year is likely to be considered the greater of the two based on the all we’ve seen.
Cleveland has a lot to play for, as LeBron James leading his team past the Warriors to pristine supremacy is important to his legacy. Rather than carve out his legacy with ease in Cleveland, the Warriors have proved to be more than formidable obstacles in his path.
Alternatively, the Dubs are playing for a legacy of their own. Once the greatest regular season team in NBA history, Golden State runs the risk of dropping two of their three NBA Finals appearances in the Steph Curry era. This need to correct course and return the narrative to where it began is heightened thanks to the fact Golden State blew a 3-1 series lead last year in the Finals.
The question is: Does watching the Warriors blow a 3-1 lead with Lego soften the blow at all?
Probably not, but let’s watch anyways:
The NBA playoffs leading put to the Finals might have been some of the most boring basketball played in a long time. So in addition to the obvious storylines involving the Cavs and Warriors, there’s the need for something other than mundaneness with these Finals. Everything is truly on the line from all aspects.
Hopefully no one blows a 3-1 lead.
