Is The Lego Batman Movie on Netflix streaming or will we have to find another way to watch it?
One of the most surprising hits over the last few years was the 2014 blockbuster The Lego Movie. The film should have been nominate for an Oscar, but that’s a conversation for a different day. A lasting legacy the movie had was it launched a renewed interest in expanding the Lego property, much in the same way the Lego Star Wars games did back in the day.
The direct beneficiary of the success of The Lego Movie was Batman. Will Arnett voiced the character in the original film and was given a bigger role in the spinoff The Lego Batman Movie. It acted as an indirect sequel to The Lego Movie while serving as another litmus test for expanding the franchise on the big screen.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking for Lego Batman Movie on Netflix it’s not going to end well. There are Lego movies on the streaming service, just neither of the two massive theatrical releases we saw in the last few years.
That means The Lego Movie is also absent from Netflix’s streaming catalog, but you may be able to find Lego Batman Movie elsewhere. It’s available on iTunes and Amazon but you’ll have to pay to watch it there. You’ll have the option to rent or purchase-to-own, with the latter option likely being the best.
Lego Batman is also available on Blu-ray (currently at the lowest price it’s ever been on Amazon), having been released just over a month ago.
While it’s a little bit of a bummer that Lego Batman isn’t streaming on Netflix there are other ways to still enjoy it. There’s also hope that it will be added to the streaming library in the future, as it’s a property that Netflix would be foolish to not pursue, even if the time it’s allowed to stream it is limited.
