Everyone is up in arms about the new Star Wars Lego sets, but are we going to be getting a new Simpsons set next year?
As we get closer and closer to the release of The Last Jedi, Lego fans will continue to be zeroed in on the sets that are attached to the film. But with the latest Star Wars film so too comes the end of the year. There’s life after The Last Jedi, not only in terms of other sets from a galaxy far, far away but also for other sets in the Lego universe.
The Simpsons have had a pretty decent relationship with Lego over the years. It was an interesting beginning to things, as the show basically created an episode to serve as a commercial and everyone got all cynical about it. That was in 2014. It might be time for a new set, and it seems such a thing could be happening.
Take it with a fistful of yellow salt, but the tea leaves may suggest that a new The Simpsons set is in our future. And by tea leaves, I mean checking the upcoming Lego releases on Brickpedia.
A quick glance at the 2018 slate shows that there is a set listed “71022 TBA The Simpsons Set”, and right away I’m in.
I know, I know. This could be a number of things, not the least of which is a false lead. It wouldn’t be the first time that something popped up on a chart like this and it ended up either being wrong or being something that is pushed back. Anyone who has been on IMDb knows this.
Connecting the dots on this one isn’t too hard, even if we’re drawing the dots that need to be connected. It’s the 60th anniversary of the Lego brick, and the company will be celebrating the occasion. Given how pop culture-centric Lego is now, having a new Simpsons set as part of the 60th anniversary celebration almost makes too much sense to not happen.
