Chinese companies using LEPIN-branded products has been ordered by a court to stop creating products that imitate LEGO. And fans are excited for the justice the company gets.

LEGO is a successful company – there’s no doubt about it. And when there is a success within a company and the possibility of making money, it’s no surprise that someone will try to replicate the products.

And that’s exactly what one Chinese company decided to do. This past week, four Chinese companies were ordered by a court to stop producing the products and branding them as LEPIN. The companies were infringing on the Danish company’s patents and trademarks.

The companies were accused of creating LEGO pieces and selling them off as their own. They were ordered to “immediately cease producing, selling, exhibiting or in any way promoting the infringing products.” The companies also faced fines, requiring to pay LEGO 4.5 million RMB in damages, which is about $650,000 USD.

It’s uncertain how much the companies made by selling the fake pieces. The CEO of LEGO, Niels B. Christiansen, spoke out about the judgment, revealing that the rulings in court “send a clear warning message to other companies who may be copying LEGO products.” He also added that the company will continue to go after those who go after their property rights.

Another instance of this happening was with Bella Bricks, another lawsuit that LEGO ended up winning.

While we are always encouraging people to buy more of those colorful bricks that we all love, we suggest that you throw out any bricks you may come across that carry the name LEPIN. As you now know, they were created with the intent of infringing on the company’s property rights, which is clearly not something we support.

To get someone the best Christmas gift, always go after the correctly branded content and bricks, so you get the right stuff.
